The business became a Resilium Partner in 2021 and has undertaken a number of acquisitions to increase its footprint in various niche insurance markets across Australia.
It has meant we can offer additional services and specialties to our clients and are continuing to look out for merger & aquisition opportunities that will further enhance what we do.
Cornerstone Risk Management was founded in 2016 following the winding up of GIO’s direct to market commercial insurance offering. Cornerstone started with a key focus on commercial and agricultural clients in regional Queensland with an office in Spring Hill, Brisbane.
In February 2019 Cornerstone Risk Management would merge with Brisbane based Forward Insurance Solutions and Gold Coast Based Terry Phillis Insurance Services.
Shortly after the merger the newly formed Cornerstone Risk Group would acquire Toowoomba based brokerage DFS Insurance services.
In September of 2021 Cornerstone accepted an offer of investment from the newly formed Ardonagh Australia.
Cornerstone was quick to start on its acquisition journey and in December 2021 it completed a purchase of Sunshine Coast based business, Insurity.
The next business to integrate was in June 2022, Clayfield based Hayes insurance Services, the business and staff seamlessly transitioned into Cornerstone Risk Groups model.
It wasn’t long until management moved on to the next opportunity in August 2022, Emerald based Central Highlands Insurance Services which serviced the Emerald district and surrounding areas in Central Queensland.
Surefinity Insurance Brokers, a sports and wellness brokerage in Northlakes was the next to integrate in October of 2022. The business and staff maintained their Northlakes location and focus on their niche insurance offering in the sports and leisure space.
In December of 2022 Cornerstone Risk Group would successfully complete the purchase of the Total Insurance Agencies in Strathpine, a transport and logistics insurance specialist business that, with the support of the Cornerstone Risk Group systems has continued to see extensive growth both in the transport and commercial sectors.
Also in December 2022 Cornerstone Risk Group acquired Toowoomba based Trilogy Insurance Solutions (formerly PMA Insurance Services) which solidified the company’s commitment to the Darling Downs and regional Queensland.
Professional Insurance Agencies (PIA) was acquired by Cornerstone Risk Group in August 2023. PIA are a General Insurance Brisbane based brokerage who service clients all throughout Queensland.
In April 2024 We proudly welcomed the MKS Insurance Services team. As a fellow Resilium business, MKS shared our passion for delivering exceptional customer service, industry expertise, and professionalism. This strategic partnership has strengthened our capabilities, allowing us to offer even more comprehensive solutions to our clients. The MKS team has seamlessly integrated into our operations and now works out of our Sydney office, reinforcing our commitment to excellence across all regions.
We expanded our service offerings In June with the acquisition of Spoke Insure, a specialist brokerage catering to the film, television, entertainment, and festival industries. This acquisition presented an exciting opportunity for Cornerstone to enhance our expertise in niche markets and deliver tailored insurance solutions to clients in these dynamic sectors. By adding Spoke Insure to our suite of services, we continue to diversify our portfolio and solidify our position as a leader in specialized insurance.
